Self-Tape With Actry: A Full Walkthrough
Recording a self-tape inside Actry - setup, framing, AI reader, and export.
Published December 21, 2025
Self-tape mode in Actry pairs the camera with the AI reader. No partner. No problem.
Self-taping alone usually means recording on your phone, then re-recording lines because the cue was wrong. Actry handles both.
The work, step by step
- Tap Self-Tape on a scene. Available in Premium.
- Set framing. Mid-chest. Eye line. Lock the camera position.
- Test audio. Wear earbuds. The AI cue plays in your ears, not the room.
- Record. Hit record. AI reader starts. You play.
- Re-record specific lines. Pinch a line; re-record only that one. Actry stitches.
- Export. MP4, 1080p. Submit through your portal.
Common pitfalls
- Forgetting earbuds.
- Eye line drifting during long pauses.
- Skipping the framing test.
How Actry fits in
Self-tape mode is Premium for a reason - it replaces a $40 reader fee per audition.
