About
Built for the actors who can’t always find a scene partner.
Most actors spend more time alone with sides than rehearsing with another human - but most rehearsal tools assume a person across from you. Actry was built for the in-between hours: the night before a self-tape is due, the bus ride to class, the week leading up to a callback.
What Actry actually does
You hand it a script - a PDF or pasted text - and it parses scenes, characters, and dialogue automatically. Pick the role you’re reading for, and the AI handles every other character with natural-sounding text-to-speech voices you can tune per character. Speech recognition listens for when you finish each line, so the next cue lands without an awkward pause. After every line, the AI rates your delivery on a 1–10 scale and tells you what to try.
Who it’s for
- Working actors prepping a self-tape on a deadline.
- Drama students drilling sides between class sessions.
- Audition candidates running cold reads before they have to.
- Anyone memorizing lines who needs the cue lines spoken aloud.
What it doesn’t do
Actry is not a replacement for a great teacher. There are things only a human can do - read a room, push you past a defense, see the take you can’t. What an app can do is give you reps. Unlimited, judgment-free, on your schedule, in any language Actry supports.
How we built it
Actry is a React Native app for iOS and Android. We use cloud TTS for natural voices, on-device speech recognition for low-latency line detection, and a private cloud model for voice analysis. Scripts live on your device. Voice clips travel only as long as they need to be analyzed, and never sit in our archive after.
